WOW

WELL, I DON'T REALLY HAVE ANY FOLLOWERS OTHER THAN 2. SO I DOUBT THAT I HAVE KEPT ANYONE IN SUSPENSE. I NOW LIVE WITH MY GRANDMOTHER-IN-LAW IN WASHINGTON, AND I AM CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR A JOB SINCE THE ONE AT NORCOM DIDN'T REALLY PAN OUT. I DID MAKE AN AWESOME FRIEND! AT LEAST THAT IS A PLUS. THIS PAST WEEKEND WE HAD A SMALL FAMILY REUNION FOR THE SHERRY SIDE OF THE FAMILY, AND SOME OF THE BENOIT FAMILY MEMBERS CAME TOO. I HAVE A TEST TOMORROW FOR VALLEY COMM SO I WILL NEED SOME PRAYERS GOING UP ON MY BEHALF THAT I PASS THE TEST AND MAYBE GET THE JOB. THIS WEEKEND, I WILL BE HEADING UP TO THE NORTHERN PAR OF WASHINGTON, THE SEDRO-WOOLEY AREA, FOR A BABY SHOWER FOR KENNA. I THINK IT WILL BE KIND OF ODD ACTUALLY ATTENDING A BABY SHOWER THAT I DIDN'T PLAN OR WORK ON. I HAVE STARTED BAKING TO PASS THE TIME, MAYBE THAT SHOULD BE MY NEW JOB...A BAKER. I FOUND THAT I ACTUALLY ENJOY IT AND I HAVE RECENTLY MADE SOME FRUIT AND VEGGIE CUPCAKES/MUFFINS, TURTLE BROWNIES AND A VERY GOOD CONCOCTION OF A BANANA CAKE. THERE WILL BE MORE TO COME ON THE BAKING FRONT BECAUSE I HAVE SEVERAL IDEAS. WELL THAT'S ABOUT IT FOR NOW, I HAVE TO GET BUSY CLEANING AND SEARCHING FOR SOME JOBS!

ummmmm

Well, I am here, in Washington, for the second week looking for a job. We have had an awesome time this week. Later today, we are going for a walk along the waterfront since we are having wonderful weather today. Yvonne and I went to the Pike's Place Market yesterday. We had too much of a good time! We bought all kinds of different foods, and have started experimenting woth them! Kassandra, I have a great recipe for you to try!!! Well, thanks for all of your prayers and good luck wishes on the job hunt. I don't believe that God would bring me this far for nothing!

Been A While

Well, I know that it's been a while, but I'm finally getting a chance to blog. I have been so busy, I haven't had time to do anything! As of today, I am currently in Washington. I got in last night around 10:30 Washington time. I went to my first interview today at the Sumner PD. I think that it went pretty well, keep your fingers crossed and the prayers going up. Sumner only has 1 position available at this time with several applicants including myself. It seems to be the prime job for me and in the perfect area that I want to be. We (my grandmother-in-law Helen and I) went out and looked at a couple of apartments in the area as well. Wednesday, I have a test for NORCOM, they hire for several agencies, and if I get a 70% on the test then I will attend an interview with them on Thursday! Hopefully by the time that I leave Friday I will know something on the job front. Well, that's about it for tonight. We are about to get in our jamies and watch a little "Julie and Julia".

Today has been a YAY! kind of day

Well, YAY! I have not been to my weight doctor since before Christmas, and I also ran out of my prescription. I went in today, and despite all of the JUNK that I have been eating, I managed to lose 3 lbs.! Yeah, yeah, 3 lbs., big deal, right? it is to me!! I also qualified for my reward. Monday I am going in to have a free Microdermabrasion session. Go ME!! I think that the next reward that I get will be the free B12/Lipodissolve shots. That is if I'm still here. The other part of the YAY! is that I received an email today from NORCOM. NROCOM is an emergency agency that I applied for out in Washington. Remember, NO JOB = NO MOVING! So I heard back from them today, my typing test is tomorrow, and as soon as I get the certificate to verify my typing skills (10 wpm), I am going to fax it in. I have already put in a request for my days off so that I can go out to Washington. If they are approved (they should be) I will be contacting Tami and setting up my interview date! While I am out there for that week, Helen (my grandmother-in-law) and I are going to look at apartments as well as maybe some other prospective places of employment. So, keep our fingers crossed and the prayers going up!

SAVE ME!

Well, once again it has been a bit since I last blogged. I have been so busy. I got everything sent out for three jobs that I am applying for in Washington. Today, I applied for two other jobs that I am actually over qualified for through Career Builder.com. They stated on the site to call after you submit your online application. So....I called. The lady told me to keep visiting the site and looking at/applying for jobs, but to actually give them a call when I was actually in Washington. How dumb. why would i look and apply for jobs on your site when you aren't going to even consider me until I actually move. I know that some people just move without having anything really secure in the new living area. I'm NOT those people!!!! I have priorities and obligations! I am not moving anywhere until I have secured a job and preferably a place to live. Maybe I can get away without my own place right off but NOT without a job! NO JOB = NO MOVING!!!! So that's where I am as of right now. Not a fun place to be....especially since we wanted to be there around April if we went.

Too much to do, too little time

Well, it seems that this has been just another day in the neighborhood. Tomorrow we will be going through the house and deciding what to sell or keep, and I suppose "pricing" things. Woo-hoo, fun, fun, fun. After that or maybe before, we were thinking about going to look at cars. I think I have decided on the Nissan Versa. I'm still not 100% though. We were originally talking about maybe a larger car or small SUV. The versa is about the same size as my Cavalier, it may even be smaller. I know for a fact that it's great on gas though! In June '09 some doofus idiot backed into my car and left, well they messed it up pretty good and I had to get a rental. The insurance company got me a Nissan Versa. The weekend of our anniversary, we decided to go with my cousin over to Mississippi. We filled up $20 and left headed to Bilouxi. We made it there on that one tank and a $10 top off as a just in case. We spent the weekend riding around and visiting a friend of my cousin and her family. We left and came home on once again on $20 and a $10 top off. The only thing is the size. I don't want to go from one small car to another one that's possibly even smaller. So, I guess tomorrow will be full of driving and comparing vehicles and going through all of my things. Spring will be here before we know it, so I've got to get busy. I still have to find a job there, a place to live, Brent's school, and who knows what else. On top of that, I still have to take care of everything here. It sounds easier than it is, believe me. It's pretty complicated trying to find a job, place to live and all that when you are about 3000 miles away. So, Good Luck to me!

BLAH Monday

I think that I will call today Blah Monday, today is Monday and I feel Blah. I have been "practicing" my typing and I think that my fingers are beginning to have a permanent curve in them. I am so tired and stress out over pretty much everything right now. My decision to be with and move to Washington with my husband so that he could fulfill his dream of being a nurse was a pretty big decision for me. My family is pretty close knit. I live three houses away from where I grew up, my mom is still there. My brother and his family live about ten minutes up the road and my sister, Dawn lives around five minutes up the road with her family. The only one of us that really left is Brittany. She is in the Air Force and is in Delaware at this current time. She just got married in October and has a beautiful 4month baby girl. We don't get to see a lot of her except in all of the daily pics she sends. I am very close to my mom. Brent and I lived with her until June 2008. She is a widow and wanted us to stay with her, so we did. I thought she was going to be lost when we moved three doors down. She still helps us with whatever we need, maybe it "keeps her young" to take care of us. She hasn't been alone since she was 18, that's when she married. Before that she lived with her parents and 6 siblings, she was the oldest. Now, her brother has moved in with her, he had bladder cancer, and she helps to take care of him. I think he just likes to aggravate her. He's just an older guy that is set in his ways, and he's sometimes a butt head. Trust me, he isn't married for a reason. Aside from my mom helping us, we help her too, so don't think that we're just mooches. My husband is very handy and I don't think there isn't anything that he can't do around a house. My mom has rental property and he helps her keep it up. Now that I have mentioned our going to Washington to her, she's a little upset. One day she seems ok with the whole thing and the next she seems like it is the biggest mistake of my life. It was hard enough to decide to go without this. Then, you have Brittany. She seems fairly upset by the ordeal, but she's in Delaware. The only thing about this is I promised her that I would come and visit her for a week this coming summer. Upon the move, I will no longer be able to do that. It sucks. I was really looking forward to my trip and getting to play with my little niece. I already never get to see them. I don't do a whole lot with my brother's family, but I do get to see them pretty often. I am the closest to Dawn's family. We always do things together, and I watch the kids. I also work with Dawn, and attend the same church with her. I love my babies and will miss them so much. I am also close to my cousin and her little girl, so I am going to miss them too. I mostly worry about my mom and who will help her with everything. Robin, my BFF, acts like I have already gone and is upset. I'm still here. We are not going anywhere until spring which gives me until March-May.
Also, I think that pretty much everything we own is for sale. Seriously. The less you have, the cheaper it is to move. So aside from all of my emotional stress, I have to go through and figure out everything to get rid of. AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I HATE moving.!!

January 9, 2010

Well it's been a couple of days since my last post. Brent and I are getting ready for our upcoming "adventure". Hopefully, if everything goes well, like we plan for it to, then come spring we will in Washington. I have applied for and gotten a couple of applications for some jobs out in the area we have been looking at. I have to do some practicing because I have to go take a typing test sometime this week. I consider myself an o.k. typist, but I need practice. For some reason, almost all of the jobs there require you to type 40 wpm at a 98% accuracy rate. That's not as simple as it sounds.... I type everyday, but not that much. All of the 911 centers out there have the CAD system which is what I am used to working on. I have been using this dispatching system for 2 years now and there is absolutely no reason to type 40 wpm. In the remarks section of the CAD, the area used to put in the info about the call, I don't think that you can even put in 40 words. There are only 3 lines in this area and about 14 to 15 words takes up one and a half of the second line. You also don't have to type everything in right then, you can go back and edit that area at anytime and you should be more worried about getting help on the way to the person that needs it instead of getting all of the information in the remarks section. So, I think they are wanting a little much. However, I have to comply to and be able to perform to their tune. I guess that means I'm off to do some typing tutorials for improvement. Maybe I won't take so long before I get back to my blog this week.

Well,,,,

It has been another uneventful night here at work. I am making fliers for a coworker to possibly help find her dog. If anyone is reading this I have a blog up about Macey. It is called Lost/Stolen Dog. Check it out and see if you can help us find her. Your help would be greatly appreciated. I guess tomorrow and Wednesday I will start my search for a possible job in Washington state as well as an apartment. AH! I have so much to do. I need to find a job there, an apartment, get Brent accepted into a school (hopefully all of his credits will transfer successfully), go through all of our belongings and figure out what to toss or keep to start packing, and of course all of the financial mess. Unfortunately, there is only 1 of me. It is January and we were looking to hopefully be settled in by March. Tick-tock, tick-tock. The image above is a picture of Mt. Baker, I love this picture. If we get the apartment that I picked, I will have a mountain view of Mt. Rainier.

January 3, 2010

Well so far it hasn't been a very eventful night. That's always a good thing, because it means everyone is safe and sound... or we just haven't caught them yet. Which ever you prefer.

Since work has been uneventful, i guess I will blog about my new year so far. This will be a very short one because so far....nothing. Everything is still the same. I still have some big decisions to make about my future and I still don't know what I really want to do. Last year was NOT a great one for me. I guess I will have to catch everyone up to speed.... I have been married for nearly 5 years now and it hasn't all been great. Duh. That is to be expected to a certain degree because everyone and every relationship has the ups and downs. Why else would 50% of marriages or more end in divorce. My marriage almost ended up being in that percentage that ends. WE are supposed to be working on this together, but there seems to be only ME instead of WE. I'm very frustrated about this. My husband was attending school to be a nurse, but there is now a kink in this part of our future. Sadly, I think someone that I know had to do something with this and that is making me pretty angry. Hopefully soon my "source" will tell me for sure what happened. I have lived in the same small town for my entire life. When I moved out of my parents' house, I moved a whole 3 doors down. I am part of a close family and we are all right here in our little town. Well, there is the exception of my younger sister. She is in the Air Force, but she is stateside at least. I think she is about a 14-16 hour drive from us. I said all of that to get to this....since the kink has been put in our future here with all of my husband's schooling and future career, he has been talking about us moving out to Seattle. He is from that area, and his family is there. I met him when he was living in Florida and have been out to Washington state only 3 times. Obviously he has been away from his family before but I never have. This is going to be a tough and hard decision for me. Do I say or do I go? That is my dilemma for right now.

Tips for dialing 911 in the new year

Tah-dah! Well, it January 1, 2010. I am here at work and it is actually peaceful for the time being. I guess everyone is recuperating. So for the new year I am going to give out some info about calling 911. When you call 911 it should be an EMERGENCY! Do NOT call 911 looking for information, because you have a question or need a phone number! If you need a phone number, you should call 411!! If the first sentence out of you mouth to the operator is ..." i know this isn't an emergency but, or i don't know if or think this is an emergency", it's probably not! An EMERGENCY,constitutes bleeding, serious injury or illness, car accidents, a fire, burglaries in progress, entering auto or prowlers, or if you come home and see that your house has been broken into. If a burglary, or entering auto has already occurred, then it is no longer an emergency and you can use the local number for the proper authorities in your area. However, if you are just coming home and you house appears to have been broken into.... do NOT enter the house and immediately call 911 from you cell phone or a neighbor's house; there is a possibility that the burglar could still be inside! You should always have a list of all of your valuable belongings and if possible the serial numbers in a safe place that you can find (ie. guns, jewelry, electronics, tools)if possible, you should make a copy of receipts for these things and place them with your list. The reason I say to make a copy of the receipts is because the carbon copies the are used by stores, fade and over time you will not be able to read the information. In case of a fire, get everyone out of the house and call 911 from a neighbor's. Do not call from inside a burning house! Do not call 911 because your neighbor has a fire in the backyard, or in a fire pit, unless the fire is unattended and getting out of control or close to a structure. If a fire is in a proper fire pit, it is contained and there should be no need to call. Here is a very important tip!!! Do NOT give your child your cell phone or any telephone to play with. They make toy phones for children or if you have an old phone that does not have service that is fine too. Approximately 20 times per shift if not more, depending on the expanse of the area covered by an agency, we get calls from kids playing on phones. This is a waste of our time and resources as well as yours. Most cellphones have safety features on them and if you simply hold down the 9 button, it will call 911. When you put your phone in your purse, or pocket....lock the keys. We also receive many "accidental" calls from things in your purse, or because your butt dialed us. For all you prank callers...prank calling 911 is illegal and you can be arrested for it. It is called abuse of 911. Here is some more useful info... you should ALWAYS know where you are! This is also for people traveling, as well as the people that just don't have a clue. In Pre-K, you learn your name, address and phone number...at least you should. Every fall, in October we have EMERGENCY WEEK at our preschools. My director and I go to all of the Pre-K classes and teach the importance of 911, knowing your address and phone number, as well as when and how to recognize an emergency and how to call 911 and tell the operator the information that she needs to send help. If a 4-5 year old can do this, then an adult should be able to. We deal with adults that don't have a clue on a daily basis. This is the vital information an emergency operator needs to know... Where are you?, What is your phone number? (this is in case the call gets disconnected, we can call you back) What is the emergency/what is going on? (this is to determine what authorities...police, fire, medical or a combination need to be sent). In larger areas you may be asked for a cross street or a street nearby or a landmark. These are things that you should know even if you are just traveling through. Pay attention to your surroundings and street names. We do not know "that street, this here street, where so and so lives or stays" giving this type of information wastes valuable time that could be the difference in life or death for someone. If you are calling about a drunk or reckless driver, get a description of the vehicle, direction of travel and on what street you are on and if at all possible get a tag number. I believe that this is all of the tips that I have for today. If I think of any more, I will post them. If you have any tips you would like to add, just let me know.
